Apple Picking on the East End

These East End farms deliver endless family fun.

Apple picking is one of the best things about the fall season, and we’ve rounded up our favorite farms and orchards to visit throughout the autumn months.

Hank’s PumpkinTown - Water Mill

Hank’s PumpkinTown in Water Mill is a long standing family favorite. Running through October, apple picking is available Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The market itself is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and you can enjoy freshly baked pies, corn mazes, pumpkin picking, wagon and tractor train rides, giant slides, various games and playgrounds!

Lewin Farms - Calverton

Lewin Farms in Calverton is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but that can change depending on weather. Your best bet is to call to be sure of the hours on any given day. The season varies by crop, but typically runs through the end of October. While there, you can enjoy the farmstand and take home some of the freshest locally grown produce, and wander through a corn maze!

Seven Ponds Orchard - Water Mill

Seven Ponds Orchard in Water Mill is one of the few orchards that is open and allows apple picking seven days a week! Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can enjoy hay rides, mining, cow train rides and a toy land. They also have berries and vegetables available to pick and fresh baked goods at the market. YUM!

Wickham’s Fruit Farm - Cutchogue

Tucked away up in Cutchogue, you can find Wickham’s Fruit Farm for apple picking Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farm itself is open Monday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They also have strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries and peaches for picking! At the farm stand you can purchase apple cider donuts and homemade cider, specialty cheeses, pies and preserves.

Harbes Family Farm - Riverhead

At the Harbes Family Orchard in Riverhead, you can pick apples on the weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They have 27 varieties of apples, and you can check out their website to see which specific varieties are available day to day! At the Farm in Mattituck, you can enjoy pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hayrides, farm animals, pig races and even wine tastings.

The Milk Pail - Water Mill

The Milk Pail in Water Mill offers u-pick apples from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends throughout the month of October. The market is open daily, except for when it's closed on Tuesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Milk Pail offers delicious fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal gourmet items and their famous apple cider all fall.
