Vitae Restaurant And Wine Bar Appoints Executive Chef Steven Del Lima

Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar announces Steven Del Lima as its new executive chef.

VitaeDel Lima's 20 plus years in the restaurant business began after graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in 1993 when he was also class president. Early stints at top Manhattan restaurants included working at Daniel, Cascabel, Le Bernardin, and Giorgio's of Gramercy, where, in 1997, Zagat named him New York City's Best Upcoming Chef of Gramercy Park.

In 2000, Del Lima relocated to Long Island. Over the next ten years, he led the kitchens at Clearwater Restaurant in Massapequa; Homestead in Oyster Bay; RSVP Continental Seafood House in Bayville, where he was also owner; Wild Fin Restaurant in Huntington; Black & Blue Seafood Chophouse in Huntington; and, most recently, as founding executive chef, at Perfecto Mundo Latin Fusion Bistro in Commack.

Del Lima returns to Huntington to begin "the good life" at Vitae Restaurant and Wine Bar. His dedication to handpicking fresh ingredients accentuates the 40-dish menu of beautifully presented, wine-friendly Continental cuisine.

Vitae also announces the first in a series of monthly wine tastings on Sunday, January 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. The flight includes California estate wines paired with artisanal cheeses and charcuterie selections at $40 plus tax and gratuity. The tasting, including a truffle and port ending, is as follows:

*Silver Peak Chardonnay-Sonoma County
*Joseph Stewart Merlot- Napa
*First Press Cabernet- Napa
*Rock Hollow Cabernet- Paso Robles
*Old Vine Estates Chocolate Cuvee- Lodi
