Oktoberfest Festivities on Long Island
Oktoberfest isn't just for Germans!
Long Island restaurants are joining in on the celebration with festive specials.
Who: Rein at The Garden City Hotel

When: Extraordinary Dinner, Friday, October 1 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Nightly Dinner Specials from Saturday, September 18 - Monday, October 4
Feierlichkeiten: On Friday, October 1, an elegant three-hour dinner will follow a one-hour pre-reception with unlimited offerings of authentic Oktoberfest cuisine and Oktoberfest draught beer. The festive atmosphere will be complete with autumnal decorations, lederhosen clad servers and live ensemble playing traditional German music by Bernie's Oktoberfest Orchestra complete with Alpine horn. Tickets for the event are available by pre-booking up to Thursday, September 30 for $47 per person plus tax and 15% gratuity; and then, on the evening of, October 1, for $55 per person. Additional selections of German, Belgian and international bottled beer, as well as German wine, will be available for purchase. Throughout the 16-day celebration at Rein, a variety of German dishes will be offered as dinner specials and accompanied by fine imported German and Belgian beer selections.

Feierlichkeiten:This year's celebration will feature a "Fester Preis" $23 traditional German Dish & Brew prix fixe. Each week a new featured German dish will be available for the prix fixe or for $20 as an entree. The first week's dish will be sauerbraten with braised red cabbage and turnip potato puree. There will also be a $9 Oktoberfest tasting flight of brews available throughout the celebration including Becks, Spaten Oktoberfest and Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. A commemorative Rowdy mug will be offered for $7 including a draught beer with a refill for $3. Sam Adams Oktoberfest bottles will be available for $5. Rowdy Hall will be converted into a traditional German beer hall atmosphere for the Oktoberfest Celebration Party with picnic tables in the courtyard and communal dining tables in the dining room. Starting at 4 p.m. WEHM's promo bus will be offering giveaways out front in the courtyard, free bar snacks will be offered such as fresh baked pretzels knock, brat and bock skewers and Oktoberfest beer specials will be offered including $7 draught beers in a Rowdy Hall commemorative beer mug with refills for $3 and an Oktoberfest tasting flight for $9. Oktoberfest beer specials will continue throughout dinner as well as the featured German dish. Starting at 5 p.m. traditional "Oompah" music will fill the dining room.

Feierlichkeiten: At the Oktoberfest Celebration, listen to German music with noshing on free brats and pretzels from 3 to 5 p.m. Be one of the first two-hundred guests to buy a beer and get a free one-liter Stein. The Weihenstephan German Beer Dinner is $45 per person with a menu consisting of Homemade Pretzels, Wild Boar Brat, Pan Roasted Salmon, Zigeuner Schnitzel, Kohi Mit Kaesesosse and Plum Kuchen.
