So many meals, so little blogging? What’s up with that?
Here’s what I’ve been up to: had a great biz lunch this week at Wave at Danford’s Hotel & Marina - the fried calamari featured jalopena peppers and hot red cherry peppers and a kickin’ aioli. Besides the seared ahi tuna, I nibbled on an excellent crabcake. We were talked into the chocolate fondue and we were grateful - somehow one feels healthier ingesting little chunks of strawberries while having chocolate drip down the side of ones mouth.
What else? I managed to slip away for 72 hours to the island of Barbados. If you haven’t been, put it on your list: the people are warm and authentic and the weather isn’t too shabby either. We arrived mid-afternoon and had arranged to have a taxi come and get us to take us to Oistins Friday night Fish Fry - a Caribbean classic. Picture 300 - 400 people milling around casually from fish shack to fish shack on the shoreline. Everyone shares picnic tables and sways to the potent beat of DJ-spun calypso and reggaeton. I had a plate of freshly caught and grilled mahi-mahi with a side of salad and rice - $7. And a coke. Then I wandered into a smokey dance shack (with cricket on the telly) for a cheek-to-cheek with my gal. Pretty cool.
