Rowdy Hall in East Hampton
Sometimes it’s the service that makes the meal. Not that the food at Rowdy Hall in East Hampton is anything but perfect and special – it is: Rowdy’s menu (from Day One) has been accessible, affordable and appetizing.
But food is only part of the equation when dining out. And so Francie (our waitress) made our biz lunch a warm and friendly experience. How? Um, by being warm and friendly! Yeah, yeah, yeah – she took our order and delivered it. But she did it with a smile and with grace. She checked on us after our food was delivered. “Are you enjoying the onion soup,” she asked my pal Robbie Vorhaus. “Do you like the chicken salad sandwich?” “Yes, very much,” I replied. And we did. No lie. Both dishes were untouchable. Basic service, right? But here’s what made the meal for me. We were all paid up, plates cleared – yet we were still deep in conversation. And then her big move came: she brought me a glass of water! I did not ask for that water. And I wasn’t aware that I was thirsty. But Francie, Francie anticipated my needs. And that glass of water is why I wrote this post. Thank you Francie!
