Food NewsJune 27, 2012 Hamptons Cupcake Lounge Now Available At Hamptons Farmers MarketsHamptons Cupcake Lounge, a new business committed to delicious, nutritious and unique cupcakes kicks off the 2012 Hamptons season with appearances at local farmers markets.
Always mindful of flavor and health, pre-made cake mixes, preservatives, stabilizers and cake enhancers are never included in recipes. Instead of butter and oil, unsweetened applesauce and fruit purees are used to keep cupcakes moist. Truvia, an all natural, zero-calorie sweetener that is approved for diabetics, takes the place of sugar. There is a limit of a whole egg per batch and egg whites are incorporated. Each cupcake features a cream cheese frosting made with low-fat dairy. Whole grains are added by combining organic 100-percent whole-wheat flour with unbleached organic flour. The Collection, priced at $3.50 each or $39 per dozen, includes: Red Velvet Kiss, PBJ with strawberry jam and peanut butter cream, and Vanilla de Yum with a dulce de leche filling. Specialties include a gluten-free chocolate option, TGIGF. Seasonal varieties are also offered, depending on availability of ingredients. The signature flavor for Spring/Summer 2012 is Lavender Lemonade, a lavender cupcake with fresh lemon juice and lemony vanilla frosting in addition to Earl Grey or Green Tea selections. Miniature versions of each cupcake is also available with Collection Kisses for $15 per dozen. Cuptails combines a cupcake and cocktail in one for $4 each or $44 per dozen. Flavors include Bourbon Blast, Cuparita, Bananas Foster, and Pina Cupalada. Cuptails are booze-infused, but with a very small amount of alcohol for taste, so all ages may enjoy.
