Beer Fest in Wine Country

The highly anticipated, award-winning North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will return to Long Island's North Fork on August 11.

Winner of the prestigious North Fork "Event of the Year" award, the Sixth Annual North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, August 11 at Martha Clara Vineyards in Jamesport. Due to the popularity of this event, the tickets for the VIP session are currently sold out. Limited tickets remain for the General Admission session.

"Long Island is the burgeoning craft beer hot spot on the East Coast. For the local beer scene, so much has changed here in the last few years," said Andy Calimano, owner of Starfish Junction, producers of the festival. "The growth of craft beer on Long Island is just incredible. When we held the very first North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival six years ago, ten of the fifteen Long Island breweries/brewpubs didn't even exist," he added. What is equally impressive, as Mr. Calimano explains, is the fact that "even breweries that started just two or three years ago already have the wheels in motion for production expansion. If you love craft beer, Long Island is a great place to be right now."

More than fifty world-class craft brewers will gather on the picturesque grounds of Martha Clara Vineyards to participate. The festival will include a broad range of nationally recognized craft beer industry leaders as well as many of Long Island's award-winning hometown favorites. The event will alSO feature wines for sampling from the Martha Clara Vineyards collection and other specially selected Long Island wineries. Gourmet barbeque food prepared by Maple Tree BBQ and live music from Mystery Play, one of Long Island's hottest cover bands, will add to the day's enjoyment. The event will help to raise funds for the national Beer for Brains Foundation as well as the local Kent Animal Shelter.

The Boston Beer Company, the makers of Samuel Adams, will introduce festival attendees to two new beers making their Long Island debut: Samuel Adams Blueberry Hill Lager and Samuel Adams Old Kentucky Style Ale. Also hailing from Massachusetts, Harpoon Brewery will be making their festival debut.

Limited general admission tickets, from 2 to 6 p.m., are currently available for $55 each (VIP tickets are SOLD OUT). Tickets can be purchased online and include a 5 oz. souvenir tasting glass with the freedom to enjoy 2 oz. samples from any exhibiting brewery or winery. Designated driver tickets are available for $15 each. All paid attendees get a coupon for a barbeque sandwich and side order of their choice as part of the admission price. No one under 21 is permitted and valid photo ID is required for entry. No children or pets permitted. The event will take place rain or shine. All ticket sales are final and are required in advance. Attendees must enter through the Herricks Lane entrance.
