Food NewsSeptember 25, 2012 Celebrate Harvest At The Library Cafe With WineLibrary Cafe celebrates the harvest season with special wine offerings.
The Library Cafe, in the center of Farmingdale, is a casually upscale American bar and restaurant. The centerpiece of this literary hangout, built in 1907, is a top shelf, full-mirrored bar towering over two stories spanning 25-feet, accessible by a vintage library ladder. It is one of eight restaurants owned by Lessings, one of the most recognizable names in food service and catering on New Yorks Long Island. Library Cafe

Every Wednesday all bottles of wine are half-price for Wine Down Wednesdays. Wines from around the globe, as well as Long Island favorites, are offered. Wine flights are offered daily and include two-ounce pours of three styles of wine for $9. Wine flights are also half-price on Wednesdays. Order The Cab Ride to sip three types of Cabernet Sauvignon including Columbia Crest from Washington, Hess from California and Irony also from California. The Backpacker takes you through Europe with Santa Marina Pinot Grigio from Italy, Polka Dot Riesling from Germany and Martin Codax Albarino from Spain. Erath Pinot Nior from Oregon, Alto Las Hormigas Malbec from Argentina and Escudo Rojo Carmenera from Chili make up The Jetstter. Enjoy Californian wines with The Wine Palette that includes Darcie Kent West Pinnacles Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Autumn sangrias are also available for $5 a glass or $20 for a pitcher. Red Cherry sangria is made with Southern Comfort Cherry and merlot while Berry White is made with Little Black Dress Blueberry Pomegranate Vodka and Polka Dot Riesling.
